TODDLERS

Our Toddler classroom offers a fun “introductory” program to children ages 18-36 months. Staff help ease the transition from home to school for both the child and the parent. The important early childhood education concept, in this room especially, is that children learn through play.  The toddler curriculum fosters learning in this way. Children do not have to be potty trained to enter this classroom. The staff work with the parent to help introduce this to their child when he or she is ready.

PRESCHOOL CLASS

Our Preschool classroom (3 year olds) offers a slightly more advanced program than the toddler room with continuing emphasis on pre-reading skills, as well as fine motor, socialization and cognitive skills.  Children are taught to problem solve on their own or with the help of their friends.

Pre K Class

Our Pre K room (4 - 5 year olds) fosters learning skills which will ready the children for Kindergarten.  Weekly themes keep the children interested and motivated to learn through crafts, baking, singing, and group time.  We have had wonderful comments from Kindergarten teachers in local school districts noting the great socialization and learning skills demonstrated by the children who have completed our program!

We offer a music program to the children in all the classrooms twice a month.  The teacher is Maggie Rothwell, who possesses a Masters degree in Music Education.  Ms. Maggie is a retired music teacher and has been with Northern Dutchess Day Care Center for a little over 3 years.

Kelli Calcagni, a staff member of NDDCC is also our art teacher two mornings a week.  Kelli introduces different art activities to the children in each class and wil spend one-one time with them when needed.

We are very happy to have these additions to our already full curriculum!
